2 Day Santa Fe Itinerary

Two full days, split so you’re not backtracking, with the Plaza and the O’Keeffe Museum on day one and Canyon Road and Meow Wolf on day two.

Two days in Santa Fe is enough to properly cover the historic downtown, and still take in the arts district and one of the city’s more surreal modern attractions. Here’s how I’d split it, day by day.

Day 01

The Plaza & The O’Keeffe Museum

Start at the Santa Fe Plaza, wandering the Palace of the Governors’ portal market and the surrounding adobe streets. Spend the afternoon at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, book ahead as tickets are strongly recommended in advance.

Finish the day with a proper New Mexican dinner, green chile widely a Santa Fe staple worth building the meal around.

Morning The Santa Fe Plaza, the Palace of the Governors
Afternoon The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum
Evening A New Mexican dinner
“Book O’Keeffe Museum tickets a few weeks ahead in peak season. Tickets are available 60 days out, and the museum’s small galleries mean it’s worth locking in a time slot early.”
Day 02

Canyon Road & Meow Wolf

Spend the morning wandering Canyon Road, a properly rich concentration of galleries lining roughly half a mile of winding street, over a hundred spaces to explore. In the afternoon, head to Meow Wolf’s House of Eternal Return, an immersive art installation properly unlike anywhere else in the country.

Finish the day with a relaxed dinner, capping off a day that mixes traditional and thoroughly modern art.

Evening A relaxed dinner

Getting around across both days

Downtown Santa Fe is genuinely walkable on day one, the Plaza and Canyon Road both sit within a comfortable stroll of the historic core. Meow Wolf sits a short drive from downtown, worth a car or rideshare for day two.

If you only have time for one thing each day

Day one, make it the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, genuinely the single most significant cultural institution in the city. Day two, make it Meow Wolf, a proper contrast to the traditional galleries and one of the most talked-about attractions in the state.

That’s everything I’ve got.
