2 Day Prague Itinerary
Two full days, split so you’re not backtracking, with the icons on day one and the quieter corners on day two.
Two days in Prague is enough to properly cover the castle and the Old Town and still get out to Vyšehrad and the Jewish Quarter. Here’s how I’d split it, day by day.
The Icons & the Castle
Start early at Old Town Square before the crowds, then the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. Walk down into Malá Strana for lunch, then climb Petřín Hill for a proper break and a view over the whole city.
End the day at the John Lennon Wall, then back to Charles Bridge for sunset, the crowds thin considerably by evening and the light over the castle is one of the best views in the city.
Afternoon Prague Castle, Malá Strana, Petřín Hill
Evening The John Lennon Wall, Charles Bridge at sunset
The Neighbourhoods & the Jewish Quarter
Spend the morning in Josefov, the Jewish Quarter, the Old Jewish Cemetery and its centuries of layered gravestones sit right alongside the Franz Kafka statue. The Municipal House and the Powder Tower, one of the original medieval gates to the city, round out a morning of lesser-visited history.
In the afternoon, walk or take the metro out to Vyšehrad, a fortress on a hill overlooking the Vltava, genuinely quieter and less touristy than the castle. Finish the evening in Vinohrady, a residential neighbourhood with some of the city’s best restaurants.
Afternoon Vyšehrad Fortress
Evening Dinner in Vinohrady
Getting around across both days
Prague’s historic centre is genuinely compact and walkable, most sights sit within 30 minutes of each other on foot. A 24-hour or multi-day transport pass covers trams, buses and the metro if you’d rather cover more ground faster.
If you only have time for one thing each day
Day one, make it Prague Castle, genuinely the single attraction most worth the entry fee and the walk uphill. Day two, make it Vyšehrad, a proper local secret that most first-time visitors skip entirely.
That’s everything I’ve got.
