2 Day Seattle Itinerary
Two full days, split so you’re not backtracking, with downtown on day one and the neighbourhoods on day two.
Two days in Seattle is enough to properly cover Pike Place and Seattle Center, and still get out to Fremont and Ballard for a proper taste of the neighbourhoods. Here’s how I’d split it, day by day.
Pike Place & Seattle Center
Start at Pike Place Market, the flying fish, the original Starbucks and the Gum Wall in Post Alley. Walk the waterfront, the Seattle Great Wheel and the Seattle Aquarium both worth the stop, then head to Seattle Center for the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass.
Finish the day at Kerry Park for sunset, the best free view of the skyline anywhere in the city, then dinner and a brewery in Capitol Hill.
Afternoon The waterfront, the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass
Evening Kerry Park at sunset, dinner in Capitol Hill
Fremont & the Neighbourhoods
Spend the morning in Fremont, considered the city’s quirkiest neighbourhood, the Fremont Troll sculpture and a Sunday market worth timing a visit around. The Museum of Pop Culture and Pioneer Square, Seattle’s birthplace, both round out a proper morning of culture and history.
In the afternoon, head to Ballard for the Golden Gardens Park sunset and a proper brewery crawl, Ballard holds one of the densest concentrations of craft beer in the city. A relaxed final evening after a day spent moving between the quirky and the historic.
Afternoon Pioneer Square, the Museum of Pop Culture
Evening Ballard, Golden Gardens Park sunset
Getting around across both days
Seattle’s Link light rail and the monorail cover the main tourist areas efficiently, and downtown itself is genuinely walkable once you’re there. A car or rideshare is worth it for Fremont and Ballard specifically, both sit a bit further out from the core.
If you only have time for one thing each day
Day one, make it Pike Place Market, genuinely the single best orientation to the city and its food culture at once. Day two, make it Fremont, a proper contrast to downtown’s polish and one of the most distinctive neighbourhoods in the Pacific Northwest.
That’s everything I’ve got.
