2 Day Las Vegas Itinerary
Two full days, split so you’re not just doing more of the Strip, with the classics on day one and the desert on day two.
Two days in Las Vegas is enough to do the Strip properly and still get out into the desert that makes the whole city so improbable. Here’s how I’d split it, day by day.
The Strip, Start to Finish
Start at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign at the southernmost point, then walk north, Luxor, Excalibur and New York-New York’s facades along the way. Time your walk to catch a Bellagio fountain show, running every 30 minutes from midday, then step into the free Conservatory next door.
Spend the afternoon at the Venetian’s indoor canals, then head up the High Roller observation wheel or the STRAT Tower for sweeping views over the whole Strip before sunset. Dinner at one of the Strip’s celebrity chef restaurants, or a short rideshare to Chinatown for better value, rounds out the day, and Fremont Street downtown makes a good, free finish to the night if you’ve still got energy.
Midday Bellagio Fountains & Conservatory
Afternoon The Venetian, High Roller or STRAT Tower
Evening Dinner, then Fremont Street
Beyond the Strip
Rent a car or book a tour out to Red Rock Canyon, roughly 20 minutes from the Strip, spectacular desert scenery and a 13-mile scenic drive with several short hiking trails. The Hoover Dam, about 45 minutes out, is the other classic day trip, guided tours running through the dam itself if you want more than the viewpoint.
Back in the city, spend the afternoon at the Neon Museum, an essential stop even if you only see one attraction all trip, retired Vegas signs displayed outdoors, particularly striking after dark on the night tour. End the day back downtown or with a show, Cirque du Soleil has several productions running across different Strip venues.
Afternoon The Neon Museum
Evening A show, or a return trip to Fremont Street
Getting around across both days
The Strip itself is walkable, if a genuine 4-mile slog end to end, and the free and paid monorails cover most of it if your feet need a break. A car or rideshare is worth it specifically for day two’s desert trips, neither Red Rock Canyon nor Hoover Dam are walkable from the Strip.
If you only have time for one thing each day
Day one, make it the Bellagio Fountains, free, spectacular, and right in the heart of everything else on the Strip. Day two, make it Red Rock Canyon, genuinely worth the trip out, a completely different side of Las Vegas to the neon and noise.
That’s everything I’ve got.
