2 Day Savannah Itinerary

Two full days, split so you’re not backtracking, with the squares and River Street on day one and Bonaventure Cemetery and Tybee Island on day two.

Two days in Savannah is enough to properly cover the Historic District’s icons, and still get out to the coast for a proper taste of the Lowcountry beyond the city itself. Here’s how I’d split it, day by day.

Day 01

The Squares & River Street

Start with a walk through several of the historic squares, working your way south toward Forsyth Park. Spend the afternoon exploring museums and boutiques in the Historic District, then head to River Street for the evening.

Finish the day with a riverboat cruise and dinner along the waterfront, she-crab soup widely a proper Savannah tradition.

Morning The historic squares, Forsyth Park
Afternoon Museums and boutiques in the Historic District
Evening River Street, a riverboat cruise, dinner
“Book the riverboat cruise ahead in peak season, genuinely. Popular sailings, particularly dinner cruises, can sell out days in advance during busy weekends.”
Day 02

Bonaventure Cemetery & Tybee Island

Spend the morning at Bonaventure Cemetery, a genuinely striking, moss-draped burial ground on the Wilmington River, home to elaborate statuary and a famously atmospheric setting. In the afternoon, head to Tybee Island, roughly 20 minutes from downtown, for a beach afternoon and the historic Tybee Island Light Station.

Finish the day back in Savannah with a relaxed dinner, capping off a slower, more coastal second day.

Morning Bonaventure Cemetery
Afternoon Tybee Island, the lighthouse
Evening Return to Savannah for dinner

Getting around across both days

The Historic District is genuinely walkable on day one, most sights sit within a comfortable stroll of each other. Day two requires a car or organised tour, Bonaventure Cemetery and Tybee Island both sit outside the walkable core.

If you only have time for one thing each day

Day one, make it the squares and Forsyth Park, genuinely the single most defining feature of the city. Day two, make it Tybee Island, a proper contrast to the historic district’s pace and an easy beach escape.

That’s everything I’ve got.
