Singapore with Kids
The world’s tallest indoor waterfall, a science centre with more than a thousand things to touch, and a zoo that opens its gates after dark, the version of Singapore built for families.
Singapore works well with kids in tow, several of its best sights are hands-on or dramatic by design, and the excellent, air-conditioned MRT makes moving between them easy. Here’s how I’d spend a family day here.
Gardens by the Bay’s Cloud Forest
A properly dramatic sight for kids, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall cascades down a mist-covered mountain inside the Cloud Forest conservatory, a genuine wow moment for kids of any age. The Supertree Grove outside is free and worth a wander too.
Science Centre Singapore
A properly interactive science museum, more than a thousand exhibits across 14 galleries, plus an Omni-Theatre dome cinema and a dedicated children’s zone. Genuinely built for touching everything, worth a full morning or afternoon.
Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari
A properly memorable family day out, the zoo’s open-concept enclosures let kids see animals up close, and the adjoining Night Safari, the world’s first nocturnal zoo, offers a genuinely different experience after dark. A full day out if you combine both.
Marina Bay Sands SkyPark
A properly fun sight for kids, the observation deck offers sweeping views over the whole city, a genuine highlight even without access to the hotel-only pool. A good, quick stop to add to a Gardens by the Bay day.
The Merlion and Marina Bay waterfront
A proper free sight for kids, the half-lion, half-fish Merlion statue makes for an easy photo stop, and the waterfront promenade offers open space for running around. Free, unhurried, and an easy way to burn off energy between the bigger sights.
Where to eat with kids
Chicken rice is genuinely an easy, reliable win with kids, mild and available at nearly every hawker stall. A hawker centre works well for families too, plenty of variety in one spot, and nobody minds a fidgety kid at the table.
A few practical notes
Singapore is genuinely stroller-friendly, flat, paved paths and an excellent MRT system throughout. The heat and humidity run properly intense, worth planning outdoor time for morning or evening with kids in tow.
That’s everything I’ve got.
